India’s Independence Day Celebration


In the list of national days, 15th of August i.e. Independence Day holds a tremendous ground for the country. As like many other nations, India too was hostage of the foreign forces for a long period of time. Coming out of this captivity is the basis of celebration of liberty.
India gained its independence after almost suffering under the clutches of oppression for 200 years from the British colonialism. Inception of the Celebration
The independence movement of India was carried on by the Indian Freedom Fighters. They have played an extensive role in getting Independence for the country. Rani Lakshmibai, Mangal Pandey, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Nana Sahib, Tatya Tope were some of the active leaders and freedom fighters who fought in the revolt.
By the sacrifices and bravery of these freedom fighters, India gained its liberation and the country has progressed at a faster pace.

Celebration
This year i.e. 2018, India will mark its 72nd Independence Day Ceremony in different parts of the country. The celebration will be led by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the national capital. A vibrant and colourful ceremony will be held at Red Fort, New Delhi. On this day, a ritual started by the country’s first Prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, hoisted the National Flag of India. In order to carry forward this tradition, on every Independence Day, the Prime Minister hoist the tricolor National Flag, carried on with a speech.
The celebration then marked by cultural events, songs and speeches highlighting the sacrifices of the leaders of the country.

How do people celebrate?
This day is declared as a gazetted holiday in the country. From national, state, local government offices to post offices and banks are closed on this day. People pay homage to the freedom fighters. All the major government offices and buildings are illuminated with strings of lights and the tricolour fluttersfrom homes and offices.
Broadcast, print and social media will be full of patriotic displays and have special contest and programs to promote the day.
